Lilah was born in the rural mountain regions of Central Pennsylvania. A childhood filled with
forests, campfires, horses, and family gave her a close connection with the rhythms of nature.
When speaking to Lilah she tells stories of everything from climbing rocky mountain summits to
being chased by bears. It is no surprise that an earthy sensibility can be seen in Lilah and her
work as an artist.
While growing up amid small town life, Lilah began searching for a sense of identity and
community. In high school her persona was affected by the fashions and music of the gothic/punk
scene. Inside school she was a cheerleader and student council member, but outside, a skate
boarding party girl.
In college she adopted the culture of the Dead Heads. During that time she followed the Dead
across the U.S., living on the road while exploring the 1990's version of the 60's counterculture
lifestyle. Finding that in the 90's, as in the 60's, while the counterculture people paid lip
service to high ideals, most were lost and flawed souls trying to find security in a world of
drugs, free love, and a hierarchy built upon 'spiritual powers' based on occult beliefs.
Lilah attended the Penn State University where she studied pottery, modern and African dance,
and filmmaking. As a film student she wrote and directed two short films: Picture Perfect,
and the award winning Maple Street.
It was in the Penn State film department that Lilah first met Caeser Pink and other members of
the Imperial Orgy. When the Orgy's first background singers quit after the band was protested
against by local church organizations, Lilah joined the group as a full time member. She performed
locally with the Imperial Orgy for a few raucous months before moving with them to New
York City.
The Imperial Orgy provided Lilah with a medium to find her own identity without depending on
the guise of cliques and cult cosmetics. The musical complexity and performance rigors
demanded by the Orgy allowed her to develop the level of discipline and self control needed
to become a serious artist and musician.
Lilah now resides in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area of Brooklyn, New York. After traveling
across Europe and the Carribean, and having tasted the neo-sophistication of the New York art
scene, she found that the greatest truth of her self identity lies not in wealth, celebrity, or
pretensions of artistic bohemianism, but in the echoes of nature from her own past. The one
constant which always stayed with her through her many changes were the simple truths of those
forests, streams, and an appreciation of family and friends from her childhood. She hopes that
those values will keep her grounded as the Imperial Orgy continues to grow as a force on the
American music scene.
When not performing with the Orgy, Lilah can usually be found behind the potter's wheel. Her
work in that medium is a mixture of organic futurism and sensual eroticism, simultaneously
recalling the forms of Dr. Seuss and a bold anatomical realism.
Onstage with the Orgy, Lilah exudes a natural vivaciousness. Projecting an image that is both
strong and feminine, an image which men find provocative and exciting, and women find fun and
liberating. Free spirited, adventurous, and radiating positivity, Lilah embodies the qualities
of the Imperial Orgy
